Enforcement & compliance

Ontario’s Alcohol and Gaming Commission fined Great Canadian Entertainment $120,000 for using unauthorised or unapproved bill validator software at four casino sites, according to the regulator. The instances occurred between 20 February and 15 March 2025; the company said it respected the decision and had introduced safeguards, and may appeal within 15 days.

The decision puts casino operators on notice about approval and testing requirements for gaming-system software.
