PointsBet Canada appeals AGCO’s proposed five-day Ontario suspension

Enforcement & compliance

PointsBet Canada said it will appeal the AGCO’s proposed five-day suspension in Ontario over its handling of suspicious betting linked to Jontay Porter. The company said an inaccurate response in March 2024 resulted from human error during an organisational transition, and that it later disclosed the betting activity; the suspension remains on hold pending a tribunal hearing.

The appeal could determine whether PointsBet’s Ontario licence is suspended and how the regulator’s allegations are resolved.
