Nevada seeks court order to block Kalshi sports contracts

Enforcement & compliance

Nevada filed a civil enforcement case in Carson City District Court seeking to stop Kalshi from offering sports event contracts to state residents, according to reporting on the filing. The state also seeks emergency relief, including a temporary restraining order, and argues the contracts amount to unlicensed sports wagering. The case follows a Ninth Circuit action that Nevada says cleared the way for enforcement.

The case could determine whether Kalshi can offer sports event contracts to Nevada residents under the state’s gambling rules.
