Nevada Gaming Control Board sues Coinbase over sports event contracts

Enforcement & compliance

Nevada’s Gaming Control Board filed a civil enforcement action against Coinbase Financial Markets in Carson City court on 2 February 2026, the Board said. It asked the court to stop contracts it says amount to unlicensed wagering being offered to Nevada residents. Coinbase’s vice president of litigation argued that the state lacks authority over the products.

The case could affect whether Coinbase can offer sports event contracts to Nevada residents without state gaming approval.
