Kalshi bans political candidate and insider after trading-rule violations

Enforcement & compliance

Kalshi imposed trading bans and financial penalties in two insider-trading cases, the company said in a post by chief executive Tarek Mansour on 25 February. One case involved a California gubernatorial candidate who traded $200 in contracts tied to their candidacy and received a five-year ban; an insider who traded about $4,000 in YouTube metrics markets received a two-year ban. The CFTC confirmed Kalshi’s interventions and said it retains enforcement authority.

The cases demonstrate Kalshi’s trading sanctions while the CFTC retains enforcement authority.
