Dutch regulator seeks restrictions on Polymarket prediction markets

Enforcement & compliance

The Kansspelautoriteit concluded after an investigation that Polymarket should be made inaccessible to users in the Netherlands and remove bets on Dutch politics, according to reports. The regulator says such wagers constitute gambling and require a Dutch licence; its licensing and supervision director said betting on political events is prohibited even for licensed sites.

Prediction-market operators face potential restrictions in the Netherlands, where political-event betting is prohibited.
