Brazilian Senate committee postpones vote on proposed 24% betting tax

Regulation

Senator Renan Calheiros cancelled the Economic Affairs Committee session scheduled for 18 November to consider a bill that would raise tax on online betting from 12% to 24%. He said the vote was moved to the following Tuesday after the Senate president relayed that the proposal lacked support in the Chamber of Deputies.

The proposed tax increase could change operators’ tax obligations if the bill advances.
