Alberta targets spring or summer 2026 for iGaming market launch

Licences & markets

Alberta iGaming Corporation interim CEO Dan Keene indicated at a roundtable at ICE Barcelona that Alberta could open its regulated online gambling market in spring or summer 2026, reportedly aiming to be operating before the NFL season begins. An industry source said self-exclusion platform APIs could be ready within a week and operator contracts drafted in four to six weeks.

The proposed timeline and contract drafting will shape operators’ preparations to enter Alberta’s regulated market.
