ANJL and IBJR challenge Brazil’s betting ban as Fux considers injunction

Regulation

ANJL and IBJR have asked Justice Luiz Fux to suspend Brazil’s Provisional Measure 1,394/2026, which bars betting operations, and the government is reportedly concerned he may grant the request. Fux gave the Attorney General’s Office 72 hours to respond, with its submission expected by 5 October; he can then decide on the petition. The Finance Ministry said 28.65 million account holders had R$1.45bn in platform balances awaiting withdrawal by that deadline.

A suspension could restore betting operations while the measure’s status is decided.
