Brazilian Congress appoints joint committee to examine fixed-odds betting bill
Brazil’s National Congress appointed members on 30 September to a joint committee examining Provisional Measure 1.394/2026, which would prohibit fixed-odds betting operations, offers, intermediation and advertising. A Chamber of Deputies technical note said the government did not explain the assumptions and methodology behind its projected revenue losses; the committee’s installation date remains undecided.
The committee will examine the proposed betting prohibition and challenge the stated assumptions behind projected revenue losses.
