Brazilian government enacts fixed-odds betting ban under provisional measure

Regulation

Brazil’s government brought a ban on fixed-odds betting into force on 6 October under Provisional Measure 1.394/2026, reportedly ending the regulated market launched in 2025. Authorised platforms must stop taking bets, deactivate their sites and apps, remove advertising and report remaining customer balances for refunds. Industry associations have challenged the measure before the Supreme Federal Court, whose decision is pending.

Operators must suspend betting services and handle customer balances while the court challenge remains unresolved.
