Alberta minister outlines market safeguards and revenue deductions ahead of launch

Regulation

Alberta minister Dale Nally said the province has used Ontario and other jurisdictions as models for its regulated gambling market, while adapting them locally ahead of the anticipated 13 July launch. He said the market will include a self-exclusion programme from day one, a 1% operator-revenue tax to fund outpatient therapy and a 2% deduction for First Nations.

Operators will need to account for the stated revenue deductions and player-protection requirements when entering Alberta.
