Alberta approves IBIA as integrity monitor ahead of betting market launch

Licences & markets

Alberta approved the International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA) as an integrity monitor ahead of the province’s regulated online gambling market launch on 13 July, the organisation said. IBIA will work with the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission to flag unusual betting patterns and escalate concerns about possible match manipulation or betting fraud. The report said about 30 sportsbook and casino operators are expected to enter the market at launch.

Operators entering Alberta will be subject to an integrity-monitoring framework that includes suspicious-wagering alerts.
