Russian finance ministry reports illegal online casinos outspend regulated bookmakers
Deputy Finance Minister Ivan Chebeskov told a Federation Council committee that spending on illegal online casinos may exceed the funds passing through regulated bookmakers in Russia. He said enforcement efforts have not stopped new gambling sites and schemes; the ministry has proposed legalising online casinos and imposing a 30% tax on operators, with approval sought from the Kremlin.
The proposal could change the legal and tax framework for online casino operators if approved.
