Russian finance ministry proposes regulating online casinos and taxing profits at 30%

Regulation

Russia’s Ministry of Finance has proposed regulating online casinos and taxing operators at 30% of annual profits after winnings payouts, according to the report. Former BetBoom marketing head Petr Kipa said legalisation could create a new business sector. The proposal has drawn criticism from groups including the Russian Orthodox Church and opposition lawmakers.

The proposal could change the legal and tax framework for online casino operators if lawmakers approve it.
