Rogério Carvalho removes proposed 30% betting revenue allocation from Brazil security funds

Regulation

Senator Rogério Carvalho removed a provision allocating 30% of fixed-odds betting revenue to federal security funds from his revised report on Brazil’s public security constitutional amendment. The provision had been included by the lower house; Carvalho said its calculation would reduce the revenue base for other social allocations, while sports organisations warned of funding losses.

The revised proposal leaves any additional funding for the two federal funds to future ordinary legislation.
