Flamengo opposes Brazil security bill’s change to sports betting tax allocation

Regulation

Flamengo said it opposes a change to Brazil’s proposed Security PEC 18 that would redirect some tax revenue from sports betting away from sport and towards public security. The club said it supports additional funding for security but argues this should not reduce allocations to sport. The proposal is due to be reviewed by the Senate’s Constitution and Justice Committee and then the full chamber.

The proposal could change the allocation of sports betting tax revenue received by the sports sector.
