Flamengo asks Brazil’s Supreme Court to suspend betting restrictions over sponsorship contracts

Regulation

Flamengo asked Brazil’s Supreme Federal Court to suspend a provisional measure restricting betting companies, saying it affects sponsorship agreements made under earlier rules. The club cited its Betano deal, worth R$ 268.5 million per season, and estimated losses of R$ 400 million to R$ 430 million for itself and about R$ 2.5 billion for Brazilian football; it also requested a public hearing.

The requested suspension could affect betting sponsorships and related revenue for Flamengo and Brazilian football.
