Brazilian trade groups ask Supreme Court to suspend online betting ban

Regulation

ANJL and IBJR asked Brazil’s Supreme Federal Court on 28 September to suspend President Lula’s provisional measure banning online betting and gaming. They want the measure paused while Congress reviews it or the court rules; the measure requires operators to take sites and apps down by 6 October, with licence revocation due on 25 October.

A suspension could keep existing betting licences in force while the measure faces legal and congressional review.
