Ethiopia’s Lottery Service revoked the licences of all sports-betting operators and ordered betting to stop from 15 December 2025, reportedly in connection with a wider investigation. Blask data put its market-demand index at 3.42 million in January 2026, down from 24.55 million in November; authorities had not announced a restart date.

Operators face an unresolved market shutdown, while reported demand is concentrated among fewer brands.

Blask Index data showed demand up 137.4% from September 2025 to September 2026, while projected revenue rose 73.2% over the same period.
