Brazilian prosecutors ask audit court to delay betting-site shutdown to December
Brazil’s Public Prosecutor’s Office asked the Federal Court of Accounts to postpone the planned shutdown of betting platforms from 6 October to 31 December. Deputy Prosecutor Lucas Furtado said the timetable raised questions about the measure’s motivation and warned of effects on jobs, suppliers and football sponsorships; the filing also sought proportional refunds of concession fees and an accounting of lost revenue.
A delay could change the timetable for operators to cease activity and seek refunds of concession fees.
