Brazil betting associations ask Supreme Court to suspend provisional ban

Regulation

Brazil’s National Association of Games and Lotteries and Brazilian Institute of Responsible Gaming asked the Supreme Federal Court on 28 September to suspend a provisional measure banning fixed-odds betting and online games. The associations argue that the ban could cause irreversible effects before Congress reviews it. The Attorney General’s Office requested 72 hours to submit arguments before any decision on suspension.

A suspension could affect whether betting operators can continue offering fixed-odds betting and online games while Congress considers the measure.
