MPTCU official seeks to delay Brazil bets ban until 31 December 2026

Regulation

A deputy prosecutor at Brazil’s MPTCU asked the TCU on 28 September to delay the fixed-odds betting ban under Provisional Measure 1.394/2026 until 31 December 2026. Lucas Rocha Furtado also requested rescheduling related operational deadlines and a calculation of operators’ paid authorisation fees to support proportional refunds; the filing argues the measure is unlawful and lacks a reasonable transition.

The requested delay and fee calculations could affect authorised operators’ closure timelines and potential refunds.

The statement came during the government's coordination with lawmakers to set the voting agenda before the legislative year closes.
