Brazilian committee approves lottery revenue proposal for disaster fund
The Chamber of Deputies’ Finance and Taxation Committee approved a bill allowing Brazil’s Special Fund for Public Calamities to receive net revenue from one numerical-prediction lottery draw each year. The proposal would run for five years if fully approved; the calculation deducts operating costs, prizes and taxes from ticket-sale revenue. The bill still requires further approval.
If enacted, the proposal would redirect proceeds from an annual lottery draw to disaster-response funding.
