Dominican Republic Senate committee revises proposed lottery taxes

Regulation

The Dominican Republic Senate’s bicameral committee revised proposed gambling taxes as part of the Anti-Crisis Plan, according to the report. The amended bill would tax winnings above DOP 600,000 at 25%, winnings from DOP 200,000 to DOP 600,000 at 15%, and reduce the proposed annual lottery-agency tax from DOP 120,000 to DOP 85,000 per location. The plan remains subject to further consideration.

Lottery agencies and betting businesses could face different tax costs if the committee’s proposed changes become law.
