ACMA warns Jamie Mullarkey over illegal gambling promotion in Australia

Enforcement & compliance

Australia’s ACMA formally warned mixed martial arts fighter Jamie Mullarkey over social media promotion of Leon, an offshore gambling service, following an investigation. Mullarkey acknowledged the commercial arrangement, which paid him $2,500 on signing and $2,500 a month until it ended in August 2025; ACMA cited his cooperation and removal of the posts in issuing a warning rather than a fine.

The warning clarifies that influencers can face enforcement for promoting or linking to prohibited gambling services in Australia.
