ACMA adds 12 gambling domains to Australia’s blocking list

Enforcement & compliance

Australia’s communications regulator, the ACMA, has added 12 websites to its list of prohibited gambling domains, saying they operated without required licences. Some were also said to offer online casino games of chance, which are not permitted in the country. The regulator said it has suspended 1,751 illegal gambling and affiliate websites since the blocking regime began, while 230 services have withdrawn voluntarily.

Domain blocking puts unlicensed services targeting Australians at risk of enforcement by the communications regulator.
