Turkish federation suspends 17 Ağrı Spor players amid betting investigation
Ağrı Spor said it no longer had a team after 17 players were suspended amid a Turkish betting investigation, and said it would field its youth team in its next match. Vice-president Tekin Yuşan said the club’s internal review found no players had bet since the squad was assembled in August; the report says many suspended players claimed their bets dated back several years. The Turkish Football Federation separately reported suspending 1,024 players across the country’s four professional leagues.
The suspensions leave Ağrı Spor relying on its youth team and form part of wider enforcement affecting professional football.
