Chile's Subsecretariat of Telecommunications (Subtel) instructed six internet providers to block 42 betting sites within 48 hours, following Supreme Court and Santiago Court of Appeals rulings. The list came from the Superintendencia de Casinos de Juego, and providers must report completion to the court and Subtel.
The order requires providers to block listed sites and allows further validated domains to be added.

The report said about 10 operators had moved to new URLs after Subtel instructed six internet providers to block a list of 42 sites by DNS.
Chile’s Subtel head Romina Garrido said the courts’ rulings require the agency to block online betting sites, while describing digital VAT collection from those businesses as contradictory. Subtel has identified 42 domains and is working with the SCJ and telecoms companies on an ongoing process to identify and block further sites, she said.
Two Chilean iGaming associations criticised Subtel’s order to block 42 betting websites, arguing that it went beyond the court ruling on which the measure was based. The groups said the original judgment identified 12 sites and alleged that the list used under Subtel’s process had expanded to more than 30; Subtel acted after receiving a list from the Superintendence of Casinos and Gaming.
