South Africa’s NGB warns consumers about illegal online gambling
South Africa’s National Gambling Board warned consumers on 11 December 2025 about illegal online gambling and urged responsible play during the festive season. The NGB said online gambling is unlawful except for bets through licensed operators’ online platforms, and that online casino gambling and other unauthorised online betting fall outside that exception.
The warning clarifies which online gambling activity the NGB considers unlawful and directs consumers towards provincially licensed operators.
