South Africa’s NGB explains operator portal status labels and data gaps
South Africa’s National Gambling Board addressed concerns about its portal listing licensed gambling operators, including entries marked “CLOSED” and online operators said to be missing. The NGB said that status does not by itself indicate unlawful activity, and acknowledged challenges with the completeness, consistency and timeliness of data supplied by provincial licensing authorities.
Operators and compliance teams should not treat a portal’s “CLOSED” label alone as evidence of unlawful activity.
