Senate addiction committee debates motion on SELAE advertising and gambling prevention

Regulation

Spain’s Joint Committee for the Study of Addiction Problems was due to debate a motion on 10 February calling for stronger prevention and treatment of online gambling harm, according to reports. The Popular Party motion cites a 2025 institutional advertising plan allocating €46.22 million to promote SELAE games, rising to €109.6 million when inter-ministerial spending is included, and calls for prevention spending to match promotion spending. The committee was also due to consider a non-legislative proposal to improve voluntary self-exclusion.

The proposals could affect government gambling-promotion spending and the design of voluntary self-exclusion measures.
