Brazilian Chamber sports committee debates online betting advertising
Brazil’s Chamber of Deputies Sports Committee heard concerns on 8 July from researchers, health professionals and others about online betting and casino advertising. Deputy finance ministry secretary Fabio Macorin said controlling advertising remained a major challenge and noted that existing rules prohibit ads that pressure consumers to bet immediately or present gambling as a solution to financial problems.
The hearing puts advertising controls under scrutiny as officials describe enforcement of existing restrictions as a challenge.
