Spain’s joint committee approves PP motion on gambling-harm prevention funding
Spain’s Joint Congress-Senate Committee on Addiction Problems approved a People’s Party motion calling on the Government to match or exceed spending on gambling-harm prevention against promotion of gambling. The motion also seeks a scientific study, targeted awareness campaigns and training for health, education and social-care professionals. The report cites more than €100m a year in government advertising linked to gambling, a figure raised by PP senator Elena Castillo.
The proposed spending benchmark could affect public funding priorities for gambling promotion and harm-prevention measures.
