Norway introduces DNS blocking for illegal gambling websites

Norway introduced DNS blocking of illegal gambling websites from 1 January 2025, the Norwegian Gambling Authority said. The authority assesses sites individually against criteria including Norwegian-language services, NOK transactions and marketing directed at the country, and can issue binding blocking instructions to internet service providers.
Operators targeting Norway face website blocking if the authority determines their services breach the country’s exclusive rights model.
