Summary
Norway's Lotteritilsynet has blocked 57 illegal gambling websites run by 23 companies in its first round of DNS blocking, the regulator said. It had warned nearly 50 companies that around 100 of their sites risked blocking, and the companies themselves made changes at nearly 40 of those sites so they were no longer illegal. The regulator said blocking would help reduce gambling problems.
Why it matters
The first DNS block round signals enforcement against unlicensed operators targeting Norway, with more inspections planned and sites potentially illegal but unblocked.
