New Jersey lawmakers renew push for casinos at Meadowlands and Monmouth Park
New Jersey lawmakers and industry proponents renewed calls to allow casino gambling at the Meadowlands Racetrack and Monmouth Park after New York approved three New York City casinos. State Senator Paul Sarlo is advocating a constitutional amendment, which would need legislative approval and a voter referendum; supporters have suggested a November 2026 ballot.
The proposal could change where casino operators may offer gambling in New Jersey, but requires constitutional and voter approval.
