Alberta reaches 50 licensed iGaming websites as unlicensed operators face restrictions

Regulation

Alberta’s regulated online gambling market has reached 50 licensed websites run by 29 companies, reportedly, as the province began enforcing restrictions on unlicensed operators after the 13 October transition deadline. Alberta iGaming Corporation chief executive Dan Keene said another 10 to 15 sites could launch by the end of 2026. Operators without approval must stop taking wagers from Alberta customers, while the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission can declare violators unsuitable for registration.

Operators must hold provincial approval to continue accepting wagers from Alberta customers.
