A Nevada judge has granted the Nevada Gaming Control Board’s motion for a preliminary injunction against Polymarket, the regulator said. The ruling follows earlier injunctions barring Kalshi and Coinbase from offering or facilitating event contracts in Nevada related to sports, elections and entertainment.
The injunction adds to Nevada’s restrictions on unlicensed prediction-market operations.

US District Judge Stephen Locher denied Kalshi’s request for a preliminary injunction against Iowa’s gambling regulation. Locher found that Kalshi was unlikely to establish that federal commodities law pre-empts Iowa’s gambling laws.
It was reported that the CFTC failed to secure a preliminary injunction against Wisconsin’s prediction market enforcement. The agency had sued the governor, attorney general and state gaming regulator.
Nevada’s Gaming Control Board is seeking a state-court injunction against Kalshi, alleging that its prediction-market platform offers illegal sports wagering. The board has shifted its legal effort to state court; a Nevada court had ordered Kalshi to suspend activity temporarily while the case proceeds.
The US Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals unanimously upheld the removal of Kalshi’s preliminary injunction against Nevada authorities over sports-related contracts. The court treated the contracts as sports bets rather than swaps under federal law, allowing Nevada to apply its gambling rules; Kalshi said it would seek further review.
A Montana federal judge rejected Kalshi’s preliminary injunction request and both sides’ third request to extend a stay on 27 August. Judge Donald Molloy found Kalshi had not demonstrated irreparable harm and denied the injunction without prejudice. The state must answer Kalshi’s complaint within 21 days.
