MPF-DF investigates federal oversight of betting advertising in Brazil

Regulation

Brazil’s Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office in the Federal District (MPF-DF) opened an inquiry into whether the federal government adequately regulates and monitors advertising by online betting platforms. The inquiry will examine measures to limit exposure to potentially irregular adverts, particularly among children and adolescents, and compliance with Law 14.790/2023. The MPF requested information from government bodies and other organisations; the federal government and CazéTV did not comment, according to the report.

The inquiry could lead to scrutiny of advertising controls and compliance obligations for betting operators in Brazil.
