Brazil creates federal committee to oversee illegal betting and advertising

Regulation

Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva signed a decree on 28 September 2026 regulating a federal committee to oversee illegal fixed-odds betting and advertising. The deliberative body, coordinated by the Civil House and comprising representatives of 11 government bodies and entities, can set protocols for blocking websites and apps, interrupting financial flows and removing advertising. The decree took effect on the date it was signed.

The committee’s remit includes coordinating enforcement measures that can restrict betting access, payments and advertising.
