Brazil investigates World Cup betting adverts on broadcasts
Brazil’s Ministry of Justice is investigating CazéTV, Globo and SBT over suspected abusive betting advertising during prime-time World Cup broadcasts. Separately, a Klavi survey found 34.8% of Brazilians had placed bets since the tournament began, compared with 11% in May; it covered transfers to legal betting sites and a sample of 1.2 million people.
The investigation concerns broadcasters’ betting advertising, while the survey indicates increased betting activity during the tournament.
