Mississippi lawmakers pass bills to deduct unpaid child support from casino winnings
Mississippi’s House and Senate passed House Bill 520 and Senate Bill 2369, which would require casinos to check certain gambling winnings against a state child-support database, reportedly earlier this week. The House measure covers slot-machine winnings above $2,000; the Senate version also includes substantial sports-betting wins. If enacted, the system would take effect on 1 July 2026, with an administrative fee of up to $35 per transaction.
Casinos could need to check qualifying payouts against state records and withhold unpaid child support if the bills become law.
