Massachusetts requires sportsbooks to explain account limits within 48 hours

Regulation

Massachusetts requires licensed sportsbooks to notify customers within 48 hours when they restrict an account and provide an individual reason, under a rule effective 1 June. The Massachusetts Gaming Commission approved the regulation in December 2025. Operator data presented during the rulemaking process showed restrictions affected 0.64% of accounts.

Sportsbooks operating in Massachusetts must provide affected customers with a timely, case-specific explanation for account restrictions.
