Massachusetts Gaming Commission reviews sportsbooks’ use of AI

Regulation

The Massachusetts Gaming Commission will examine how DraftKings and other licensed sportsbooks use artificial intelligence in Massachusetts, Chairman Jordan Maynard said on 24 September. The review follows reports that DraftKings used machine learning to identify customers likely to continue gambling and lose money after promotions; DraftKings denied targeting customers based on losses.

The review could affect how licensed sportsbooks use customer data and AI in promotions.
