Illinois lawmaker proposes 12-month extension for Bally's Chicago opening

Regulation

Illinois state representative Kam Buckner introduced legislation to give Bally's Chicago 12 additional months from September 2026 to open its permanent casino, according to the report. Bally's said it remained committed to the project and could operate its temporary Medinah Temple casino through September 2027 if needed.

The proposal could extend Bally's temporary casino operation while delaying the permanent venue's required opening date.
