The approval allows Boyd to proceed with a revised casino redevelopment while keeping gaming in East Peoria.

The Illinois Gaming Board authorised its administrator to give Bally's Chicago until 9 September 2027 to complete its permanent casino, extending the temporary venue's operating period. The extension follows state lawmakers' approval of authority for the board, but Senate Bill 3019 had not yet been signed by Governor JB Pritzker, according to the report.
