Illinois Gaming Board advances shorter self-exclusion periods and marketing limits

Regulation

The Illinois Gaming Board voted unanimously to advance three proposed changes to the state’s self-exclusion rules. The proposals would add six-month, one-year and three-year exclusions, with automatic re-enrolment and an option to leave the programme; they would also bar targeted marketing to people leaving the programme for at least 12 months. The proposals now go to the General Assembly’s Joint Committee on Administrative Rules for review and public comment.

Operators would face a proposed restriction on targeted marketing to people leaving self-exclusion.
