Gemini Titan said the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission approved its Designated Contract Market licence, following a five-year application process. The company plans to begin with contracts on future events and later add crypto futures, options and perpetual contracts.

New York Attorney General Letitia James filed lawsuits against Coinbase Financial Markets and Gemini Titan in state court in Manhattan, reportedly on Tuesday. The complaints allege that the platforms operate without licences from the New York State Gaming Commission and breach state gaming laws; the companies are expected to challenge the cases.
Gemini Titan filed a product self-certification with the CFTC on 23 January to list sports event contracts based on statistics within parts of a game. The contracts would allow yes-or-no positions on specified outcomes and have a notional size of $1.00, with prices ranging from $0.01 to $0.99. The filing says official values would follow a hierarchy led by the league governing the event.

The New York State Gaming Commission reported September gambling figures, according to a report. Land-based gross gaming revenue was $184 million, down 7% from August’s $199 million, while online sports betting handle reached $2.4 billion, up from $1.7 billion a year earlier.
