Brazilian Senate committee postpones vote on proposed bets tax increase

Regulation

Brazil’s Economic Affairs Committee postponed until 2 December a vote on bill PL 5.473/2025, following an opposition request. The proposal would raise the betting companies’ GGR contribution from 12% to 15% in 2026 and 2027, then to 18% from 2028; it also includes tax changes for financial institutions. Senator Eduardo Braga presented a revised report in favour of the bill, which remains under consideration.

Betting operators face proposed staged increases in GGR tax if the bill advances and is approved.
